Poster Variants - for marketing

I have created several variants of my poster as I noticed during my research that many films from the horror genre featured variations on their main or original posters. Often fans of horror films and cult movies create their own poster variants, which are uploaded onto social media pages and help market the film by creating a buzz surrounding the film's release.

Here I chose a red effect, which makes the face of the antagonist more clear and gives the film an independent aesthetic. Whilst I think it is interesting, it doesn't appear as powerfully scary as the original poster.

Here, the tiling effect works really well in creating a sense of chaos, though I feel this would work better for a film from the thriller genre (the tiles give the impression of a puzzle that needs to be solved) rather than one from the horror genre.

I liked this variant, with the hatching throughout, and I think this would have worked if the film was a psychological thriller or if the monster was artificially intelligent as the effect almost looks like computer code.

The final poster variant feels like an old 1960s independent horror movie, perhaps one produced in Europe rather than America, with its retro aesthetic. I like its stark and brutal simplicity, but I'm not sure it would appeal to a modern audience.
