Comparing Theatrical Trailers, Teaser Trailers and TV Spots - Introduction
I am going to begin by identifying the conventions of different styles of trailer by looking at teaser trailers, theatrical trailers and TV spots for some films from completely different genres.
I have chosen to compare trailers from the superhero movie 'The Dark Knight Rises', 'Psycho' a thriller and 'M3GAN' a horror film, to see if the conventions of the different types of trailers are similar even though the genres are different.
This will help me get a better understanding of the general conventions of trailers that I will need to use when I produce my own, but it will also help me get a better understanding of the similarities and differences between theatrical trailers, teaser trailers and TV spots.
