Choosing Production Companies Appropriate for My Genre

I will be including titles in my trailers which reference the production companies (in my credits), alongside idents for production companies at the start of trailers, as well as production company logos and references to those companies on the billing block of my poster. I have therefore decided to research production companies which have a history of making films from the genre, so that my marketing materials will be even more authentic as advertising a horror film.

Twentieth Century Fox

Horror films produced by Twentieth Century Fox include 'The Predator', 'Poltergeist', 'The Omen, 'Alien', 'Fear Street' and 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'.

I don't think I will use Twentieth Century Fox as many of these films are horror/action hybrids.

Warner Brothers Pictures

Horror films produced by Warner Bros include 'The Conjuring', 'The Nun', 'Annabelle', 'The Shining', 'It' and 'Final Destination'.

I think I'll use Warner Brothers Pictures as they make purer horror films, rather than blending genres. It would also be good to use a bigger film studio as this will help with distribution to reach a wider audience.

A24

A24 are a production company which specialises in making films from the horror genre. Horror films they have produced include 'Midsommar', 'Hereditary', 'Nope', 'X', 'Pearl' and 'The Lighthouse'.

I think I will also use A24 as they predominantly produce and distribute films from the horror genre.

Blumhouse Productions

Horror films produced by Blumhouse include 'Happy Death Day', 'Get Out', 'The Black Phone', 'The Purge', 'Insidious' and 'Paranormal Activity'.

I think I will also probably use Blumhouse Productions as one of my companies as they are a genre specialist.

New Line Cinema

Horror films produced by New Line Cinema include 'The Babysitter', 'Lights Out', 'A Nightmare on Elm Street', 'Freddy vs Jason', 'Pan's Labyrinth' and 'Spawn'.
