Deciding My Film Title and Film Title Focus Group - 'Se7en Devils'

Below are some possible film titles for my horror movie, based on both elements of my storyline but also on patterns I found in my horror title analysis.

  • 'Death Hospital' - includes the word death and also the potential location where the killings take place
  • 'The Asylum Murders' - again, this references location and also death and brutality
  • 'Blood-stained Gown' - instantly conjures up ideas about horror iconography
  • 'Death at the Seven Devils Hospital' - references the name of the town where the killings take place
  • 'Seven Devils' - the name of the town, which is sinister and implies death
  • 'Bad Samaritans' - mysterious title, though it implies terrible things may happen
  • 'The Institute' - references location
  • 'Don’t Fall Asleep' - uses an imperative, typical of horror film titles
  • 'It’s Coming for You' - again, this uses an imperative and suggests a threat
  • 'The Patient' - references a character, creates enigma
  • 'Asylum Seekers' - mysterious, but it may connote immigration rather than horror
  • 'The Ward' - references location
  • 'Sectioned' - suggests danger

Many of the titles above make reference to a mental institute or hospital as the location, which I think would be suitable. However, I am concerned about the feasibility of shooting in a location that would feel authentic. As a result, I will discount all of the titles that reference this specific location.

I have conducted a focus group where I asked people to rate the film titles out of 10 (after I had explained my storyline). Using their votes I have displayed this information into a bar chart (below).

The most popular title, which those asked thought was creepy and mysterious, was 'Seven Devils'.
