Analysing Horror Film Posters 3 - 'Insidious'

The third horror film poster I am going to look at is for 'Insidious'.

The poster contains the following typical conventions of the horror genre:

• Low-key lighting with storm clouds
• Muted colour scheme
• Typical setting (isolated house) 
• Typical characters from the genre (young child, figure in the window) 
• Review uses words referencing the horror genre ('scary', 'whimpering', 'sheer terror') 
• Title is a horror reference 
• Tagline revealing plot which is typical of genre, using typical language ('haunted') 
• ‘Scratched’ font, typical of the genre (mirrored in the scratched-out eyes)
• Reference to other films from the genre ('Saw', 'Paranormal Activity')
• Certificate typical of the genre (15)
