The theatrical trailer for 'The Matrix' contains the following conventions.

• Production company logos/idents
• Exciting, dramatic music
• Loud impact sounds
• Fades to and from black
• Montage of shots from film (very quick editing)
• Exciting eye candy
• Some plot revealed
• Tagline, spread across the trailer
• Action sequences
• CGI and special effects, enticing the viewer
• Names of actors
• Name of film
• Link to website with more information
