Analysing Film Posters - Conclusion

After analysing different posters from different genres I have found a number of conventions that are typical of all posters, and other conventions that often appear.

• The name of the director (often near the film's title)
• The name of the film (always the largest copy)
• Production company logos (alongside the billing)
• A dominant image of the character(s)
• Billing block (usually towards the bottom)
• Age rating/certificate
• Website/social media
• Tagline
• Reference to awards/nominations
• Reference to other similar films
• Sound logos
• Reference to format
• Additional images
• Release date
• Reference to merchandise (such as soundtrack)
• Names of actors
• Indication of genre through iconography and font
